Ανακοινώθηκαν το πρωί της Τρίτης (ώρα Αμερικής) οι υποψηφιότητες των βραβείων Oscar. Ο Γιώργος Λάνθιμος και το The Favourite βρίσκονται ανάμεσα στις σημαντικότερες κατηγορίες, με τον Έλληνα σκηνοθέτη να διεκδικεί και το Oscar σκηνοθεσίας. Υποψήφια για τον Α’ γυναικείο ρόλο είναι και η Olivia Colman, ενώ για μια ακόμη φορά, η ταινία βάζει δύο ηθοποιούς στην υποψηφιότητα για τον Β’ γυναικείο ρόλο (όπως και στις Χρυσές Σφαίρες), για τις Rachel Weisz και Emma Stone.
Η μαύρη κωμωδία εποχής βρίσκεται μεταξύ των υποψηφίων για την “Καλύτερη Ταινία” και για το “Πρωτότυπο Σενάριο”. Το φιλμ φιγουράρει επίσης στις κατηγορίες “Φωτογραφίας”, “Καλύτερων Κοστουμιών”, “Μοντάζ” και “Καλλιτεχνικής Διεύθυνσης”. Η ταινία του Γιώργου Λάνθιμου απέσπασε συνολικά 10 υποψηφιότητες για Oscar.
Το A Star Is Born βρίσκεται επίσης ανάμεσα στα υποψήφια για Oscar “Καλύτερης Ταινίας”, ενώ η Lady Gaga κέρδισε και την υποψηφιότητα για το Oscar Α’ γυναικείου ρόλου. Μαζί της, υποψήφιος για το χρυσό αγαλματάκι του Α’ ανδρικού ρόλου βρίσκεται και ο Bradley Cooper. Επιπλέον, το τραγούδι Shallow που ερμηνεύει η Αμερικανή Pop Star είναι μεταξύ των υποψηφίων για το αγαλματάκι καλύτερου τραγουδιού.
